Sacramento Magazine Has a New Owner

corporation, has purchased the assets of Sacramento Magazines Corporation
(SMC), publisher of Sacramento magazine.
Mike O’Brien, President of SMC since 1993, and a publisher of the magazine
since 1986, leaves to pursue other interests. Joe Chiodo, Sacramento Co-
Publisher and a 27-year employee, becomes Publisher. Krista Minard continues
as Editor. All SMC employees remain.
“We are excited to be able to acquire such an established and well respected title
as Sacramento,” Stefan Wanczyk of Sacramento Media said. “Sacramento’s
outstanding staff has served the market well, as evidenced by their excellent
subscriber renewal rate and this year’s celebration of its 40-year anniversary.
Under Joe Chiodo’s leadership we intend to grow the magazine’s print and
digital audiences, and expand its custom publishing capabilities.” SMC also
publishes the Visitors Guide for the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau,
and Serrano El Dorado Hills magazine in concert with Parker Development
company.
O’Brien began working at Sacramento in the early 1980s. “It’s been terrific to
own a business that is named after the great city of Sacramento, and the
magazine’s future prospects are as bright as our city. Under Joe Chiodo’s
leadership along with a veteran staff, the magazine is poised to reach new
heights,” said O’Brien.
